The Oban mod singers.
Переглядів 56914 днів тому
On a recent tour I was passing through Oban on Saturday 1st June and I thought it would be fun to take my American passengers along to a local Mod at the Argyll gathering halls. We were welcomed in with open arms, had a dance and a laugh and then got goose bumps on top of goose bumps when they did this to round off the evening. Dave

    Such a shame but I can't say I'm surprised, not about the neglect or the vandalism. The water feature from the Garden Festival where you and I spoke irl was relocated after the Festival was over and when I return to the relocated area in 1994 it had already had the maintenence hatch busted open and the pump destroyed. I remember telling my best mate as we stood there that if I ever made something of myself I'd get it repaired and secured better from future damage. Sadly, things didn't work out and in your video when you visited it, it looked exactly the same. The same rocks stuffed in the hatch untouched by time.

    When this was openef in 2011 we where assured tjevexhibits woild be chaged out for others held in reserve, in 14 years nothing has really changed except an addotion subway carrage that was recently decommissioned , and mist the moving items no linger work (that thing with the ships models appears to have been taken out)

    Thanks for posting this mate. I really have no idea about cars and been putting off doing this repair for a couple years now due to lack of confidence. Your video gave me the confidence to have a crack at it myself and I'm pleased to say it's now repaired. The head bump at the beginning is funny as well as the box at the end 😂 no longer do I have to prop the boot open with my head whilst loading the shopping. Thanks so much.

    My favorite film by far, and I must have watched it over ten times. I once went looking for every spot, such as that were the rabbit was hit (Loch Tarff,) the pub (The Ship Inn, Banff,) or Ben’s beach (Camusdarach beach, close to Mallaig.) Even when I knew reality was not going to be a match for fantasy - not by a mile -, I still had to see every spot and get the thing out of my system.

    As an Ex-Soosider myself, I really enjoy your videos When I stayed up the West End in the mid 90’s, there was a police box at the Byres/Great Western Road entrance to the Botanic Gardens. I’d imagine that as it’s the “West End” that it will still be there.

    My father in law was a fireman at that fire 🔥 Thomas Millan he was also at kilbirnie st it was actually 14 firemen and 5 salvage corps men that died he served 22 years as a Glasgow fireman 🚒 he attended most of the big fires in Glasgow he had to retire due to a bad injury he was on his way to a hoax call as the two engines were travelling down maryhill rd a car came out off a side street and the engine in front had to brake severely and the engine my father in law was in smashed into the back of the other engine he received a serious back injury and he had to retire he was an absolute gentleman

    I got that issue with both doors passenger side and left back door. Do i have to change 3 locks or is it another problem?

    • @AstonishingGlasgow
      @AstonishingGlasgow 7 днів тому

      Its most likely the lock modules which will need swapped out but also check the wiring loom as it runs from the car body into the door. As it gets old it gets brittle and can split the wires.

    Last year i did a walk to follow the route of the ring road section which wasn't built. After I got to the M8 i saw the underpass with the plaque. Didn't know what it was about so thanks for clearing that up. I went to the stone circle (i had seen it on google earth) but it was fenced off. There's a lot of history when you take time to look but so much lost.
